Hey, I’m Patrick. Fitness enthusiast, home gym connoisseur, former big fat guy.
Growing up, I was always in shape. I played sports and I trained in martial arts for years!
My work was very physical and I stayed slim and fit no matter what I ate and no matter how much time I spent chilling on the couch after work.
It was awesome.
But then something happened. Something that changed my life.
I got a promotion.
This was a huge step forward for my career, but like so many things in life, it came with a downside.
To be totally honest with you…
I got fat.
You see, now I had my own office. I had a nice, big, comfy chair and my own desk. I didn’t have to hustle through the day anymore. My responsibilities changed and so did my activity level.
With new responsibilities came stress. With stress came bad eating habits. (Not that I was eating well before, I just hadn’t ever had to worry about it when I was doing physical labor all day)
Sitting down all day can be surprisingly exhausting. I felt so tired, every day. After a long day at work I would come home and, you guessed it, sit down some more.
Does any of this sound familiar? My story is not unique. People go through the same thing every single day.
A few years ago, I had a burst of motivation and I rode that motivation for all it was worth and I’m still riding it today!
I changed my eating habits. I tried a few new ways of eating until I found one that worked for me.
I built a home gym. I got a rack and a barbell and some dumbbells and a bench and a pull up bar and some straps and bands and balls and all sorts of random stuff. Most of it didn’t work. Most of it ended up gathering dust in my garage, but along the way, I found out what did work.
I lost 50 pounds and I ended up looking better than I ever did before! I’d been fit all of my life, but there’s a difference between someone who’s fit just because they’re young and active and someone who’s fit because they work for it. When you get down on the bench and lift heavy weights and you eat to support your workouts, not just to satisfy your hunger, the difference is huge!
Taking that burst of motivation and actually putting it to use, changed my life for the better.
The effects of that decision have had a positive impact on every part of my life.
I often think of how much time and money I could have saved if I’d known then what I know now, so with that in mind, my goal with this site is to share what I’ve learned and help people make the same transformation I did.
I hope you enjoy your visit, feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
